Navigating the Depths of Gameplay: Mechanics and Features in WILL: Follow the Light
In WILL: Follow the Light, the gameplay is intricately woven into the story, offering a more immersive experience than a typical walking simulator. A standout feature is the yacht, which is central to Will’s journey. It’s not just a vehicle but a vital part of his life. You’ll steer the yacht using realistic controls developed with input from a professional captain, fully immersing yourself in the adventure as you explore the game’s boundless world.
In addition to sea wandering, WILL: Follow the Light also features dog sled control, bringing more dynamics and emotions to the gameplay. We designed the sled to reflect traditional Greenlandic methods, where dogs line up in formation. By focusing on realistic braking, we ensured that the lead dogs set the direction while the others followed with a natural delay. This careful design resulted in controls that, in our opinion, surpass those seen in God of War.
Beyond just transportation, we’ve integrated a range of mechanical, mathematical, and logical puzzles that not only challenge players but also advance the story. We crafted the yacht’s cabin as a strategic planning hub, where you can calmly chart your route using authentic maritime navigation tools like coordinates and a compass. All our mechanics are based on real-life techniques, though we simplified and adapted them for the game. These features are intended to enhance the adventure, providing a deeper and more engaging experience as you follow the light.
